Payments

Take card payments through your Square account.

Connect a Square access token and pick the location that takes the payments. Every checkout on the site sends the buyer to Square's own payment page and the money settles into that location, with no fee added by Cliux.

The Payment setup screen in the site console, with the payment providers a site can connect.

How you connect

Where Square is switched on

The screen, the path to it in the sidebar, and what happens when you press the button. Nothing else to install.

Site console

  1. Payments & Sales
  2. Setup & Connect

Press Connect. Paste an access token from the Square Developer Console, sandbox or production, then choose the location whose currency your prices use. Cliux checks the token with Square, stores it encrypted and subscribes to the site's payment notifications.

Agency console

  1. Launchpad
  2. Connect payments

Press Connect. The agency's own account, for the invoices it sends to clients, from the same panel on the Launchpad.

One processor

Square takes the cards for every checkout on the site.

Choose Square as the card processor and the store, the restaurant, event tickets, bookings, packages, one-off donations and agency invoices all pay on Square's hosted page. The order is held while the buyer pays and let go if they do not.

  • Every one-off checkout

Orders, tickets, bookings, packages, gifts and invoices.

  • One location

Charges are made in the chosen location's own currency, as Square requires.

  • Refunds from the console

A refund on the row goes back through Square on your account.

What you get

Square with Cliux

Your own access token

Checked with Square before it is stored, stored encrypted, and never shown back beyond its last characters.

The location you choose

When the account has more than one, you pick the location that takes the payments.

The total, exactly

The checkout carries one line for the whole amount, so the charge is the price the site computed.

Holds that end

A checkout nobody finished is stopped once its hold passes, and the order goes back on sale.

Refunds from the console

Store orders, bookings and tickets refund from their own screens, through Square.

Signed notifications

Each notification is checked against the subscription's own signature before the payment is read back from Square.

Not included

Said plainly, so you can decide

What this connection does not do today. If one of these is the thing you need, tell us through the contact form; the list is prioritised from those requests.

Subscriptions
Square does not run membership plans, recurring bookings or monthly gifts here. Those use Stripe or PayPal on the same site.
In-person sales
Nothing syncs with a Square point of sale; online checkouts only.
Several locations at once
One location takes the payments. Switching it is a reconnect, not a per-order choice.
Gift cards and loyalty
Square gift cards, loyalty and tipping are not part of the checkout.
